Italy’s greatest ‘Wood Heroes’ are ready to compete in the 2025 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Italian Championship. On Sunday, July 6th, the picturesque Südtirol Arena in Antholz (BZ) – host of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic biathlon events – will transform for one day into the beating heart of this spectacular sport. Athletes will compete in all six disciplines of the series: Stock Saw, Single Buck, Underhand Chop, Standing Block Chop, Springboard and Hot Saw.
The event will kick off with the Rookies Cup and the Women’s Cup, where Europe’s most promising under-25 athletes and women will face off. Representing Italy are Nicola Trecarichi and Marta Poletti, winners of the 2024 competitions and determined to defend their titles.
In the afternoon, the Pro Championship Final takes centre stage: the twelve best athletes in the country will battle for the 2025 Italian Champion title. Defending champion Andrea Rossi is aiming to claim his sixth national victory.
Beyond the fight for the podium, the stakes are high – qualification for the World Championships is also on the line. The global showdown will take place on October 24th and 25th 2025 at the Allianz Cloud in Milan, turning the city into a global arena of power, precision and passion for two thrilling days.
The 2025 edition holds special significance: it celebrates the 40th anniversary of STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®. Founded in 1985, the competition has grown from a one-off American event into a premier international series, now represented in over 20 countries – from Europe to Asia, North America to Oceania.
“We are proud to have brought this passion to the world. This 40th anniversary marks a significant milestone and reflects STIHL’s ongoing commitment to promoting a sport that blends tradition and spectacle – and has become a global symbol of energy, technique and determination,” said Massimo Gallo, Managing Director of STIHL Italy.
Entry to the Italian Championships is free of charge.
