STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® EUROPEAN NATIONS CUP RETURNS, WITH SEVEN NATIONS STRIKING FOR SUCCESS IN AUSTRIA

8 August 2023 - STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® is thrilled to announce that the European Nations Cup will make a triumphant return on Sunday, 3rd September in Seefeld, Austria with seven of Europe’s finest logger sports countries set to chop up a storm to be crowned the continent’s top TIMBERSPORTS® nation.

Last year, Edvin Karlsson, pictured here on the Standing Block Chop, laid the foundation for his team's success by winning the Rookie competition.

Both Rookies and Pros will compete in a thrilling contest to score the most points for their nation in the unique format of the European Nations Cup. Team Scandinavia will be back to defend their title, while the rest of the field will be vying to topple the Nordic athletes and capture top spot.
Over the course of the day, there will be a Rookie tournament followed by an Individual Pro competition. The Rookies will stand to their timbers first and lead the charge for their countries before the Pros take over to complete the road to victory.
Last year's Rookie Cup saw Swede Edvin Karlsson's explosive performance catapult Team Scandinavia to overall victory, together with fellow Rookie Esben Pedersen (Denmark) and Swedish Pros Ferry Svan and Emil Hansson.

Two saw-some competitions in a single day of exhilarating TIMBERSPORTS® axe-tion
Seven countries in all will compete in the European Nations Cup, with Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway and Denmark) and Switzerland sending two Pros and two Rookies each. Setting the tempo, the competition will first see the Rookies from each nation step up across four striking TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines: Stock Saw, Standing Block Chop, Single Buck and Underhand Chop. The Pro competition will follow with the addition of the renowned Springboard and Hot Saw disciplines as Europe’s elite go toe-to-toe in an intense showdown to secure top honours in the nations ranking and be crowned the European Nations Cup Champion.

Accumulation of points determines European Nations Cup placings
Each athlete will battle for valuable points for their respective nations during the Rookie and Pro competitions, which will be tallied to a final nation ranking. To ensure an equal playing field, the scores of the nations will be divided according to the number of athletes they have competing.

At the conclusion of the competitions, the nation with the most points will be declared the official 2023 European Nations Cup champions.

The European Nations Cup 2023 will broadcast from 10:00am CEST live across the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Facebook, YouTube and Twitch channels.

European Nations Rookie Cup:                    3rd September, from 10am CEST
European Nations Pro Cup:                          3rd September, from 2pm CEST
