The sports city of Essen will be enriched by an extreme sports highlight in 2023: On 30 September and 1 October, Germany's best sports lumberjacks will come to Seaside Beach Baldeneysee in Essen to compete in three performance categories for the title of STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® German Champion 2023. 

The highlight of the weekend will be on Sunday, 1 October. The national sports lumberjack elite will compete for the German championship. They have to complete the six disciplines as quickly as possible, three on axe and three on saw. Only the one who has the most points after all six disciplines is the German Champion 2023 and qualifies for the Home World Championship 2023, which will be held on 3 and 4 November in Stuttgart.
