Although the Canadian grew up on a farm, she only discovered her passion for axes and saws while at university. In 2011, she joined the lumberjack sports team at McGill University in Montreal, quickly showing her talent and achieving her first successes. In 2019, she was crowned the Canadian TIMBERSPORTS® champion for the first time – a triumph that she repeated in 2023.
What is your job?
I studied farm management and technology at McGill University, including a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics. My main job is as an agricultural management consultant, while my secondary occupation is as a hay harvester and lumberjack.
What discipline is your personal strength and why?
I have two favourites: Single Buck and Underhand Chop. After joining the professional sector, I was very fortunate to train with JP Mercier. He taught me the best technique for the Single Buck – especially how to optimally adjust the long saw to my physical abilities. Underhand Chop is the discipline I’ve been doing since my first competitions. Thanks to my height, I have an advantage here that I know how to use in a targeted manner.
What motivated you to take part in STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®?
Mainly the combination of outdoor sports and woodworking – two things that match my interests perfectly. I love to physically challenge myself and at the same time fine-tune my technique. There is always a way to improve in this sport. The challenge, the adrenaline and the company of the other athletes, who are like a family to me, make it unique for me.
Is there a special moment in your STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® career that you will never forget?
My first Canadian Championship title in 2019, just three years after turning pro, was an unforgettable milestone – I had already been on the podium in previous years. Another highlight was my participation in the International Women’s Cup 2024 in Germany.
Do you have a goal for your STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® career?
My biggest dream is to win the Women’s World Championship. I would also like to see this competition added as a fixed part of the Men's World Championships and the Team Relay.
