Can anyone give mighty Chopperoos the ‘axe’ or will they ‘saw’ to victory again?
The 20th STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships will kick off with the highly anticipated Team event on Friday night, with 18 of the world’s best logger nations taking to the Allianz Cloud Arena stage.

Once again Australia will be the nation to watch as they eye a record-extending sixth consecutive team world title. The Chopperoos, with the likes of Brayden Meyer in their side, will start as favourites to win a landmark 10th global championship.

Hoping to halt them is the USA, led by reigning Individual World Champion Nate Hodges. Of the European nations, Sweden will fancy their chances of breaking up the traditional dominance of the overseas contingent, with the youngsters Ferry Svan and Emil Hansson hoping to take their side to the semi-finals and beyond.

Of the other teams, New Zealand, Canada, Poland, France and Germany will aim for the latter stages, while Romania make a long-awaited return to the competition and take their place amongst the 14 European sides.

A clash of titans expected in individual competition
With the Team event setting the electric tone for the weekend, the axe-tion will reach an explosive climax with a potential heavyweight clash of titans in the Individual World Championship on Saturday.

Reigning Individual World Champion and Hot Saw world record holder Nate Hodges (USA) will be hoping for back-to-back titles in Milan, while 2019 Individual World Champion and Underhand Chop specialist Brayden Meyer (Australia) will be aiming to add to his own glistening trophy cabinet. Could these two heavyweight champions meet in a blockbuster final to crown the 2025 Individual World Champion?

A strong European roster of competitors will be led by 2023 silver and bronze medalists Emil Hansson (Sweden) and Danny Martin (Germany), while Czechia’s Matyáš Klíma enters the competition in great form and as Europe’s top-ranked athlete.

Szymon Groenwald is one to watch as a former Rookie World Champion and, at 20-years-old, the competition’s youngest contender. Meanwhile, Michel Perrin, will aim to make the most of a partisan home crowd as Italy’s national champion and Individual World Championship hopeful.
