STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® is excited to announce the dates for 2022 TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship, which will see the most prestigious competition in The Original Extreme Sport series come to Sweden for the first time. The event will be staged at the iconic Partille Arena in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Friday 28th and Sunday 29th October 2022.

The TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship will see the very best in elite logger sports, comprising 120 athletes from over 20 nations, compete across two days of adrenaline-fuelled competition. The 2022 World Championship hopes to celebrate the return of fans to watch the best athletes from across the globe compete in The Original Extreme Sport, with the 2020 and 2021 international TIMBERSPORTS® events held behind closed doors. The Chopperoos from Australia the team to beat in Team World Championship

The 2022 Team World Championship will open the weekend of high octane TIMBERSPORTS® action on Friday 28th October. The national teams will compete against each other in a knockout system, with four athletes from each nation completing the TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines of Stock SawUnderhand ChopSingle Buck and Standing Block Chop in a relay format.

Team Australia are aiming to make it a hat-trick of world titles having conquered at the 2018 and 2019 editions, with the 2020 and 2021 editions not held due to the pandemic. They will face a tough field determined to stop their dominance and fans can expect a thrilling conclusion to the last competition day.

Gothenburg 2022 to crown a new Individual World Champion?

The Individual World Championship will take place on Saturday 29th October and sees the world’s top twelve athletes compete against each other in all six TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines in a three-round elimination format. In each discipline, the competitors are awarded points according to the time it takes to complete the discipline, with the lowest ranking athletes eliminated after each round. The athlete achieving the highest points across the three rounds will be declared the 2022 Individual World Champion.

The best individual athletes will qualify for the 2022 Individual World Championship throughout the 2022 season, with the national champions of the USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia to take on the eight best national champions from Europe. The Swedish national champion will be guaranteed a spot as the individual athlete representing the host nation.
