Hot Saw
A Name of one of the six disciplines in competition.
B Tuned chain saw used at the discipline "Hot Saw".
This specially tuned chain saw generally has a 60 to 80 HP single cylinder two-stroke engine, often taken from a snowmobile or high-powered motor bike. Rotary piston engine saws are sometimes also used. These racing chain saws are customized models often built by the athletes themselves and are only used in the competition, as it takes tremendous strength to control a saw like this smoothly. Furthermore, these saws have no cooling system and so they are not suitable for for forestry work. A hot saw can weigh up to 30 kg and the chain rotates at over 250 km/h. The cost of such a saw is at least EUR 5,000.
