The picturesque surroundings of Koszecin Palace in southern Poland (the Silesia Voivodship) played host to an action-packed STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Polish Championship on Saturday 11th August, where Arkadiusz Drozdek was crowned the winner for the tenth time in his sport career after an exhilarating event.
This year's event saw 13 best athletes from all over Poland who were competing in head-to-head race against time across six disciplines: Underhand Chop, Stock Saw, Standing Block Chop, Single Buck, Springboard and Hot Saw.
They all presented lots of great power, technique and precision, with Arkadiusz Drozdek finishing 4 points ahead of his closest rival Jacek Groenwald.
Drozdek won two out of six disciplines – Stock Saw with a time of 11.24 seconds and Single Buck with a time of 14:20 seconds.
However, it was other athletes who set the new Polish Records in the three following disciplines: "Underhand Chop" and "Standing Block Chop" – Michal Dubicki and "Springboard" – Jacek Groenwald.
Round 2 showed slightly advantage of Jacek Groenwald in disciplines "Springboard" and "Hot Saw", but at the end it was Arkadiusz Drozdek who received more final points and was titled as the best at Poland Championship 2018.
Arkadiusz Drozdek, who is a Polish champion for the tenth time, was delighted about defending his 2017 title: "Competitors in Koszecin performed very well, so that is why I strongly believe that everything is possible for Polish Team – both in individual and team competitions."
This year's Polish Championship has been a fantastic warm up to the eagerly anticipated 2018 STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship which will be held at the Echo Arena Liverpool on Friday October 19th and Saturday October 20th.
