The annual judge meeting has been the season kick-off for the last decade and is a significant part of the season's schedule. This year's edition took place from January 10th to 13th 2018 in St. Johann in Tyrol with seven judges from six nations attending. In the course of three days the attendees discussed various topics to guarantee the continuous improvement of the sport and equal international competition conditions for all athletes. The founding members of the committee Andy Hall (GBR), Dr. Richard Hallett (USA), Bart Jansen (NED) and Selwyn Wayne-Smith (GBR) were honoured for 10 years of involvement.
The 2018 Judge Committee reviewed the 2017 season and had a close look back at the most difficult decisions of the previous year. They discussed necessary actions to ensure the global development of the rookie competitors including possible competition formats. The judges also reviewed the newly introduced Champions Trophy Qualifier that took place for the first time in October of 2017 in Sittard, Netherlands. Moreover, the committee improved the wording of the international rules and regulations to make them more comprehensible for both athletes and judges.
