Australia wins world Championship third time in a row

At the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS®-Team-WC in Stuttgart more than 100 logger sports athletes in 22 Teams competed against each other. Team Australia secured gold in the final, ahead of Canada and the U.S.; breaking their new world record set in the semi-final. Over 5,500 spectators celebrated with them in Stuttgart's Porsche-Arena.

Over 100 logger sports athletes fought for gold in 22 teams at the World Championships of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series in Stuttgart on November 11, 2016. The Australians came out as the winners, showing an extraordinary performance with axe and saw. They broke their own new world record set in the semi-final during the final heat against the Canadians. In only 46.45 seconds the four athletes completed two disciplines with axe (Underhand Chop, Standing Block Chop) and saw (Single Buck, Stock Saw). The team competition of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series is carried out as a relay. The team from the Czech Republic finished as best European team and came in fourth place. Team USA finished third. Over 5,500 spectators turned Stuttgart's Porsche-Arena into an inferno. The winning athletes around team captain Brad DeLosa celebrated their victory enthusiastically: "The third consecutive victory feels at least incredible – as great as our other victories. We all fought hard and the new record was the absolute highlight! The atmosphere in Stuttgart was phenomenal. The goal for next year is of course the fourth."
